About Us

LISD's volunteer program is the envy of other districts across the state. The volunteer program began in 1984 with just 117 volunteers contributing 3,000 volunteer hours, and it has been growing every year since.

Last year, almost 14,000 LISD volunteers, at 38 campuses, contributing time and energy and demonstrating the importance of education to a generation of impressionable students.

A volunteers tasks are limitless, including such things as tutoring and mentoring students, chaperoning school dances and field trips, serving as room parents, helping with field day and book fairs, serving Thanksgiving lunches, stuffing of weekly take-home folders, helping with class projects, laminating and helping in the campus office. The list is endless, and we know that each of our volunteers/mentors contributes to making this a great place to learn.

Each campus volunteer coordinator organizes and implements the program on their campus, helping each individual person maximize her or his volunteer time.

Questions or interested in getting involved? Please contact your campus coordinator or the district volunteer coordinator Shannon Lombardo.

Thanks for making a difference in our schools and in your community!
